"MATANONG AT KARUNUNGAN"
(Question and Knowledge)
A Stage Play about Philippine Costume and Folk Dances
Written and Directed by Jonathan Rosario Enerva
The main characters in this play are MATANONG as performed by Angelina Flemming and KARUNUNGAN as played by Sheila Cabuco-Butler. This is a play that integrates the different dances and traditional costumes from the northern to southern part of the Philippines.
The finale of the play was the performance of traditional TINIKLING DANCE followed by the hip-hop music “BEBOT” where tinikling is danced with a modern twist and where all the cultural dancers, traditional costume models and the audience joined in. The audience had a blast, especially the youth who enjoyed dancing on stage as well!
