With the Covid-19 Pandemic mostly behind us, the Filipino American Cultural Organization was very pleased to announce “The Return” of its 2021 Christmas Gala and its Annual Hiyas Awards at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa with 315 attendees. It was a night of celebration with great food, entertainment, and lots of dancing.
This year marks our th Annual HIYAS Awards. The HIYAS Awards was conceived 8 years ago to honor Southern California’s most influential and most successful Filipino-Americans who have given back to their community and continue to support FACO’s vision.
Our prestigious Honorees for 2021 are not only very successful in their own fields; they are also very generous with their philanthropy; very passionate about promoting the Filipino culture; and are all very active supporters of the FACO vision.
Twenty Twenty-One (2021) was a milestone year for FACO as we celebrated our 45th year in existence; we re-started most of our programs after the 2020 Pandemic; we wrapped up the 2020 Census FACO Committee which was very successful after receiving an $18,400 grant; and we rolled out our new FACO Senior Member Program. FACO applied for and was awarded an additional grant from the San Diego County Community Enhancement Program in the amount of $20102. Thanks to Jim Desmond, San Diego County Supervisor of District-5 and his staff for supporting FACO during this grant process.
To all our Honorees and Appointed Titles tonight, you have my utmost respect and deepest gratitude for all that you do for the FACO and the Filipino American Community. Congratulations to you all; and I wish you continued success in all your future endeavors.
To all our friends and supporters, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for believing in our mission. Without your donations and volunteer services, our accomplishments and successes would not have been possible.
To all the committee members, your hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication to make this program a success is priceless. I Salute You!
